Star of the West is open all year. This recreation area is part of Greeson Lake. This area is open year round for camping. From 1 March to 1 November campsite fees are charged. From November to March the area is open to free camping.

Star of the West is a Class D park located on Lake Greeson with 21 campsites. Picnic tables, service tables, ground barbecues, lantern poles, vault-style restrooms, and potable water are available.
Star of The West Campground on Lake Greeson includes 12 non-electric campsites accessible on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground is located on Lake Greeson, where the Little Missouri River flows into the lake. The area lacks electricity. Two water hydrants provide potable water for human consumption. The nearest boat ramps for access are at 70 Landing Marina and Arrowhead Point Campground.
Star of The West Campground is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors must physically appear to the campground to purchase and claim a campsite. Once on-site, payment for campsite(s) is made by scanning a QR code with the Recreation.gov smartphone app. Download the free Recreation.gov mobile app for Android or iOS before you arrive, as some rural regions have limited or no cellular coverage.
Scan and Pay Instructions are posted on the bulletin board in front of the toilet facility.
The clean waters provide ideal conditions for a variety of boating activities such as water skiing, tubing, personal watercraft, and cruise. Four marinas on the lake provide boaters with fuel, boat and watercraft rentals, picnic and fishing supplies.
