About This Location

Rio Bravo Campground Carson NM: Rio Bravo is the second of a seven BLM campgrounds and is open year round along the Rio Grande in the Orilla Verde Recreation Area. The camp road is flat graded gravel and all sites are close to level. Campsites at Rio Bravo include an awning covering a picnic table on a cement pad, a tent pad, and a fire ring.

There are about 8 sites available for $8 a night (1/2 price with a qualified national access pass) and two pull throughs with hook-ups ($15 a night). The restroom is heated and showers are available for quarters.

This campsite is amazing! I can’t believe it’s only $8! It’s surrounded by canyons and is along the Rio Grande. You can hear the water flowing from your camp. The little shelter and picnic bench in each camp is great too. The bathrooms were nice and clean. I feel very safe and comfortable as a solo female traveler staying here.

It was very easy to get my SUV out here. An RV could definitely make it out too. The only downside is no cell service but oh well! I have ATT and had zero service anywhere near by. Staying two nights because it’s so peaceful!
