About This Location
Free, dispersed camping among ponderosa pines at 7500′. Unmarked, but obvious campsites on both sides of the road. Most of them are set off of the road a bit. No amenities. The road in is Gravel and 1.5 miles from a paved road. There are 6-15 campsites at this location. You may stay 14 Nights.
The roads get really muddy and hard to drive on when it rains. Take 89a, a really cool, twisty mountain road, out of Prescott or Jerome. When you get to forest road 104 in the Mingus Mountain Recreation Area, turn East.
After you leave 89A, the road is a bit bumpy, but it’s really well-kept gravel and narrow forest roads. Once you go 1.5 miles on FR104, you’ll get to FR413. Turn right and look out for the cool stuff on both sides of the road! I can’t suggest going past the sharp turn sign on FR413 because I haven’t done that.
