Lahontan State campground area’s main campground sits at Silver Springs Beach #7. There are 25 RV sites, but don’t expect water, electric, or sewer hookups.
A dump station’s nearby, though, which is always a relief. If you want the latest prices or need to book, call the park office at (775) 577-2226. You get restrooms, showers, flush toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, and grills.
The Lahontan State campground area’s facilities are open year-round, but showers and flush toilets take a break from October to May. Swimming and boating are right there, just steps from the beach.
If you’re more into rustic camping at Lahontan State campground area, you can set up right on the beach in most areas—just steer clear of the day-use and boat launch spots. Those primitive sites are first come, first served.
It’s probably best to avoid camping too close to the boat ramps or where folks are just hanging out for the day at the Lahontan State campground area. For boaters, there are paved launch ramps at Silver Springs Beach and Churchill Beach.
If you’ve got a four-wheel-drive vehicle, you can launch straight from the shoreline. That makes fishing or water sports a breeze.
Fishing’s kind of a big deal here. People catch walleye, catfish, bass, trout—pretty much whatever’s biting.
Just remember to follow Nevada Department of Wildlife rules when you’re at the Lahontan State campground area. The campground stays open all year, so you can soak up lakeside views and do your thing whenever you feel like it.
But if you want a few more amenities around the Lahontan State campground area, the developed campground will probably suit you better. This campground has developed sites with restrooms, tables, and grills—pretty handy whether you’re in a tent or rolling up in an RV. There’s easy access to the lakeshore, so you can fish, boat, or hike around the high desert landscape all you want.
Camping at the Lahontan State campground area, at Silver Springs Beach #7 comes with a fee. The daily rate gets you a spot, but don’t expect hookups for water, electricity, or sewer.
Even if you’re not camping, there’s a vehicle entrance fee. The booth is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day.

Directions
Getting to Lahontan State campground area isn’t complicated. Head to Silver Springs, Nevada, and you’re almost there.
The park sits right off U.S. Highway 50, not far from Fallon. If you’re driving from the west, just follow Highway 50 east toward Silver Springs and keep an eye out for signs to Lahontan State Recreation Area.
The main entrance to the Lahontan State campground area is on Fir Avenue. Coming from the east? Take Highway 50 west and the entrance will pop up on your right before you hit Silver Springs.
Once you’re inside, you’ll see signs for the camping areas, including the main Silver Springs Beach #7 Campground.
