About This Location
East Viewpoint. A Boondocking location along the rim with great views, about 7 miles uphill of FR611, just at the exit of the Grand Canyon North Rim entry gate. The road in is Gravel and 7 miles from a paved road. Kaibab Nat’l Forest, East Viewpoint is open May 1 to October 31. There are 1-5 campsites at this location and the maximum RV length is unlimited. You may stay No limits.
The East Rim Viewpoint overlooks North Canyon and the Saddle Mountain Wilderness. It offers a majestic, panoramic view of the Saddle Mountain Wilderness as well as portions of House Rock Valley, Marble Canyon and the Navajo Indian Reservation. This viewpoint is accessible with a paved path and is a great place in the autumn to view fall colors.
From Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center go south on AZ 67 for 27.5 miles (0.7 miles beyond DeMotte Campground entrance) to FR 611. Turn left onto FR 611 and go 4.5 miles to the turnaround at East Rim Viewpoint. AZ 67 is paved and FR 611 is
suitable for passenger cars.
