About This Location
The gravel road is 5.2 kilometers from a paved road. Jewett Cove is open year-round. There are one to five campsites at this area. Jewett Cove allows you to stay up to 14 nights.
Jewett Cove, a boat launch and beach area with a few primitive campsites, is located on Moosehead Lake’s eastern shoreline. The location includes multiple fire rings in a large open clearing, as well as a well-maintained outhouse. The beach faces west/southwest and provides excellent canoe access to other sites along the lake, such as Fox and Salmon Islands. The spots are first-come, first-served.
Nice campground near the shore. Four sites include fire pits/rings. There is definitely enough area to set up additional tents. One outhouse with ample space to change into. The beach is rocky/pebbly, and the water is shallow, so it’s definitely not the ideal area to fish. The night I slept there, a loon serenaded me, and I saw two moose the next morning while riding my bike. The road in is relatively smooth and manageable by car. The GPS coordinates mentioned will transport you to the general location. The approximate mileage is 14 miles up Lily Bay Rd from Greenville, turning left at the Lily Bay Transfer Station sign/Casey Rd (see DeLorme) and going 5.5 miles to the junction with the Jewett Cove sign on a tree, turning right, going 3 miles to an unsigned road, turning left, and going 0.9 miles to the campsite. Enjoy!
