About This Location

The road in is Paved. Awesome camping in the wide-open desert at exit 144 on I-8! On the west side of the paved road, there’s BLM land, and the east side has some open space that can be used too. Probably there are more options south of the freeway too.

Vekol Valley is a dispersed camping area located near Gila Bend, Arizona. It is part of the Sonoran Desert landscape, offering open, flat terrain with desert vegetation. The area is accessible via dirt roads, and high-clearance vehicles are recommended due to occasional rough sections. There are no designated campsites, and campers should be prepared for remote conditions.

Amenities and Activities:

  • No developed amenities such as water, toilets, or trash services.
  • Open desert landscape suitable for self-contained RVs and tent camping.
  • Off-roading and ATV trails available in the surrounding area.
  • Wildlife viewing opportunities, including desert species.
