About This Location
Black Canyon Campground: Black Canyon is open Apr-Nov. The maximum RV length at Black Canyon is 32 feet. There is a vault toilet, individual and group picnic sites. It is the first Forest Service Picnic site as you travel up Hyde Park Road.
We arrived at the forest service campground. This is a busy campsite, and we managed to grab the final available site. The park is lovely, and we had no issue with the hill. It’s seven miles from Santa Fe, and there’s no mobile coverage.
The water had not been turned on, but the bathrooms were quite clean. The campground host was courteous and kept the park clean. $10.00 per night, unless you have a senior pass, in which case it is $5.00. Public showers were accessible at the Fort Marcy Recreational Complex, located where Hyde Park joins with Bishops Lodge Road shortly before you entered Santa Fe.
