16 Springs Canyon NM boondocking location is really quiet. Driving in, I’d approach from the west. The route leading up the canyon from the east is somewhat rocky. Of course, numerous dispersed spots can be found around the canyon and on the ridge. There is no mobile service, but approximately a mile east, you may be able to send a text message.
A breathtakingly gorgeous campsite that is extremely remote. Several beautiful, level grassy areas. Every day, only 2-3 vehicles passed by, most of which were hunters. Whatever way you come in, it’s a slow, tough ride for around 5 miles.

Directions
To reach 16 Springs Canyon in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, we start from the town center.
Head north on NM-656, following signs toward Lincoln National Forest.
After about 6 miles, look for the turnoff onto 16 Springs Canyon Road. This is a primitive road, so we recommend driving slowly and using a vehicle with good clearance.
The road leads through forested areas with occasional natural springs visible nearby. These springs are part of the local landscape and add to the remote camping experience.
We advise checking the road conditions before traveling, especially after rain, as the primitive road can become rough or muddy.
